Through my advanced training in PACT, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, I have found a comprehensive modality that supports clients to achieve the deep changes they are looking for.
PACT is a well-researched integrative approach based on the latest in the fields of attachment , neurobiology and somatosensory experience. The goal of therapy is for couples to learn how to improve the connection and quality of their relationship to achieve, and maintain, secure functioning. This model supports partners to repair quickly and effectively. I love helping clients work together against problems and strengthen capacities to co-regulate each other's stress. For example, to turn toward each other when anxiety revs up instead of turning away or lashing out. PACT is a great fit for couples where one or more partners have a history of trauma/abuse, ADHD, substance abuse, mental health struggles or neuro-differences. This is also recommended for couples that have tried other couples therapy approaches in the past. More info about PACT here: https://www.thepactinstitute.com/
I started my clinical training as a music therapist responding to children with distress Boston after 9/11. I then trained as a Child Psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area, completing pre-doctoral internships at California Pacific Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry and the college counseling center at California College of the Arts. I completed my post-doctoral training in the Department of Psychiatry at Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland.
I find that my extensive background in Child Psychology is incredibly useful in working with adults and couples.
